The SWGTRC could not
exist without volunteers. 100% of all therapists,
instructors and center administrators are volunteers. By
volunteering, you can learn about people with
disabilities, horses and make new friends. You'll gain
tremendous satisfaction from watching the participants
enjoy contact with horses physically, mentally and
emotionally. You will “give back to your community”
while having fun! To learn more about
volunteering, contact us at the center. See below for
how to contact us.
Center Volunteers
assist in a variety of ways.
Leading horses
during lessons
Sidewalking
(walking alongside the horse to offer the rider
support when needed)
Grooming horses
Tacking up horses
Cooling out horses
Cleaning tack
Horse care
Helping with fund-raisers
Participating in
public relations
Assisting with
administrative duties
Planning of Special Events
Anything else that needs
doing!
We accept volunteers 14 years of age and
older. However, children younger than 14 who have a
strong horsemanship background are often considered.
By volunteering,
you can learn about disabilities, horses and make new
friends. You'll gain tremendous satisfaction from
watching your riders improve physically, mentally and
emotionally. But most of all, you will be making life
brighter for individuals with disabilities.
