| SWGTRC operates 100% on volunteer effort.
We could not exist without our volunteers. By volunteering, you can
learn about disabilities, learn about horses, and make new friends.
You'll gain tremendous satisfaction from watching the riders improve
physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. But most of all, you'll
be making life brighter for individuals with special needs.
We accept volunteers age 14 or older. However, children
younger than 14 with a strong horsemanship background are often
considered.
Center volunteers assist in a variety of ways:
- Leading horses during lessons
- Sidewalking (walking alongside the horse to offer
the rider support when needed)
- Grooming, tacking and cooling out horses
- Cleaning tack
- Horse care
- Helping with fundraisers
- Public relations
- Administrative duties
- Planning of special events
- Anything else that needs doing!
