Our facility opened
in 1999 after the Goodlife Therapeutic Equestrian Center closed, leaving
the special needs children and adults in Southwest
Georgia without a
riding program.
SGTRC is the dream of
Stan and Tara Okon. It is situated on 25 acres at
Hunny Pot Stables in Leesburg, Georgia. The facility offers an open arena,
a
covered arena, multiple hay
and wagon storage facilities and a 32-stall barn. It is conveniently
located 5.2 miles past The Parks at Chehaw on
Philema Road
Our goal is to bring
horses, riders and the community together to share an extraordinary
experience. In this safe, compassionate and challenging environment, we
strive to
improve the lives of individuals who are experiencing challenges in many
different ways - developmentally,
physically, emotionally or as the
result of
a traumatic injury.
The results are
evidenced in the smiles of the riders and the excitement they show when experiencing freedom from an assisting device.
